If you experience any problem with any of our products, customer service, or shipping, please let us know. We’ll make it right!
We usually ship your order within a day or two. In case of delay of more than three days, we will contact you by e-mail or phone. We ship perishables such as meats, cheeses, and olives Monday-Wednesday because we do not want your packages sitting in the UPS warehouse over the weekend. If you order perishables on Wednesday after 2 p.m., Thursday or Friday, we will ship to you the following Monday unless you designate Next-Day Air or Saturday delivery. We may also hold an order for several days if we are expecting a shipment with items you’ve requested. You can also ask for a deferred shipment date. Shipping costs are determined according to weight, size, and distance.
UPS My Choice
UPS My Choice is a new program that allows the customer to get alerts about times and other information about deliveries. The basic service is free. Other advanced services such as the ability to change the times or locations of deliveries require an annual fee. All orders ship via UPS. We do not normally require the recipient’s signature. All ship-to addresses must be UPS-deliverable street addresses. Addresses incorrectly entered into our website and/or delivered-packages not taken inside or opened in a timely manner cannot be the responsibility of Salumeria Italiana. Our standard shipping options are limited to the 48 contiguous states, with only expedited, 2-day Air or Overnight service available to Hawaii and Alaska. Orders that consist entirely of nonperishable items will ship UPS Ground service to the 48 contiguous states, unless you select an expedited shipping option for extra cost. Orders that consist of mixed perishable and nonperishable items will be shipped together unless otherwise requested. If your order is being sent out of New England and contains heavy nonperishables such as olive oil plus meats, cheeses, and olives requiring 2nd day air shipping, you may want to save money by ordering these separately so that the heavy items can be sent ground and only the perishables by air.
We take great care in packing cured meats, cheeses, and olives to ensure they get to you in prime condition. All meats, cheeses, and olives are sliced, cut or packed the day they are to be shipped, and sealed to prevent loss of moisture and freshness. They are packaged in thermal envelopes with cold packs added, and then shipped 2nd day air, depending on distance. Generally, perishables shipped to an address in the Northeast will arrive in 2 days so ground shipping can be used.
If a return is necessary because of damage, mistakes, or other dissatisfaction, contact us as soon as possible. Although we aim to get your products to you as soon as possible, we cannot take responsiblity for weather delays, for an order submitted with an incorrect address, for a delay caused because the intended recipient was not at home, or for a package containing perishables that was delivered on time but not opened when received. Because our products are fresh and perishable, we request that you call within 24 hours of receipt if you seek a return or we will not be able to honor the request.
Because cheeses are cut by hand to order, weights may vary slightly -- some may be a fraction over, others slightly under. However, we will make sure that the weights balance in the end.
